Rhode Island Free Clinic’s VISTA Team
AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteer In Service To America) is a national program that seeks to combat poverty by assisting local organizations to build capacity and make change, while providing VISTA Volunteers nonprofit and community service experience that prepares them for a life of service. The Rhode Island Free Clinic has partnered with AmeriCorps VISTA since 2003, mobilizing over 80 VISTA Volunteers to help build Clinic capacity and aid in patient care, including outreach initiatives and data analysis used to improve patient health outcomes. Serving on the front lines of public health, our VISTA Members have been instrumental in RIFC’s operations to provide critical health services for our patients, including COVID-19 testing and vaccination efforts.

Peyton Cahill
Communications and Fundraising Americorps VISTA
I graduated this past Spring from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Clinical Neuroscience. As the 2025-26 Communications and Fundraising VISTA, my goal is to support the ability of the RIFC to provide free, high-quality healthcare to our neighbors across Rhode Island. Through social media engagement, public health education, and community connection, I strive to help raise awareness of our cause and promote equitable healthcare access across the state.
At the conclusion of my service, I aim to attend medical school and work towards a career as a physician.
Dulce Flores
Patient Assistance Program Americorps VISTA
I am a recent graduate of Washington College in Maryland, where I earned a degree in Biology and a minor in Business Management. In my role as a PAP AmeriCorps VISTA, I work closely with staff, volunteers, and stakeholders to help develop a sustainable pharmaceutical program that ensures patients have access to free or low-cost medications. After completing my service term, I plan to continue pursuing my goal of becoming a dental professional.
Brian Gouvin
Grants and Program Development Americorps VISTA
Brian is a recent graduate from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Public Health. He is passionate about improving accessibility and equity within the healthcare system and he hopes to use this VISTA opportunity to continue the clinic’s mission of removing financial barriers to ensure quality healthcare for all community members. Brian is pursuing a career in healthcare administration where he hopes to lead programs and policies that improve how people access and receive care.
