2019 Founders' Event Gala //
For the past 9 years, the Free Clinic has thrown a celebratory gala in downtown Providence each October to commemorate a valued community partner, congratulate a worthy volunteer physician, and to raise funds for the next year. This gala is called the Founders' Event to honor the original founders of the Free Clinic, who by creating the Clinic have extended healthcare to countless uninsured Rhode Islanders.
At this year's gala on the evening of October 2nd, the Clinic was honored to present the 2019 Founders’ Award to Delta Dental of Rhode Island. Thanks to the generous support and partnership of Delta Dental of Rhode Island, Rhode Island Free Clinic now provides dental care to patients in need. Delta Dental of Rhode Island has made countless, invaluable contributions to Clinic, facilitating dental care for vulnerable Rhode Island adults and changing what it means to provide comprehensive care.
The Rhode Island Free Clinic was also delighted to present Dr. Walter Hollinger with the 2019 Dr. Steven Brin Physician of the Year Award. Since he began volunteering nearly 14 years ago, Dr. Hollinger has represented the invaluable nature of the Clinic’s volunteer physicians. Dr. Hollinger consistently provides compassionate, comprehensive patient care, culturally-sensitive professionalism, and a willingness to go above and beyond for patients and the Clinic.
This year, the 20th year of the Clinic's existence, the Clinic elected to present our first ever Distinguished Service Award to Dr. Caroline Troise, who has served the Clinic in various ways since 1999. Dr. Troise currently serves as the Clinic's Volunteer Medical Director and has been a leader in providing care for the uninsured in Rhode Island for decades.
Thank you to all who attended this year's Founders' Event in support of the Clinic. We hope to see you again at next year's Founders' Event!
