Women’s Clinic
Nothing is more central to a woman’s sense of wellness and wellbeing than the health of her reproductive system. An adjunct to our primary care clinic, the Women’s Clinic is designated as a Women’s Cancer Screening Program site by the Rhode Island Department of Health. As such, we provide critical breast and PAP smear screening services for uninsured adult women.

By appointment only, our Women’s Health Clinic runs once each month. Screenings are performed by registered nurse practitioners, nurse midwives and gynecologists. If, as part of your care, we discover you are pregnant or that you need additional testing, we work with you to obtain the appropriate services, be it prenatal care through the state’s RIte Care program or follow-up services at Women & Infants Hospital at reduced or no cost.

Esther
Patient since 2001

Age 60
High cholesterol, diabetes, and nowhere to turn for health insurance

As a younger woman, Esther had options for obtaining health insurance to protect her and her family's health. But the combination of her age and a foot defect she's had since birth makes it difficult for her to find work, let alone health insurance if she could afford it. She now lives with her daughter, gets all her medical care at the Clinic, and often wonders why family coverage doesn't work the other way around when the time comes for your adult kids to take care of you.
