Special Programs
Providing basic medical care is only part of the picture. Rhode Island Free Clinic also offers a broad range of programs that enable people to live healthy, productive lives. For example, we offer cooking demonstrations for people learning to manage diabetes or high blood pressure, or simply looking to adopt a more healthful lifestyle. We also offer basic banking workshops for those entering the job market. And, with the help of student volunteers working with the University of Rhode Island College of Nursing, we are actively gathering, interpreting, recording and publishing valuable data that may impact the future of healthcare here in Rhode Island and across the country as well.

Part of our mission is to educate future medical professionals in a community-based, culturally-sensitive environment. Our multi-disciplinary approach to caregiving enables nurses and physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, social workers, psychiatrists, diabetic educators, and nutritionists to work side-by-side and collaborate on a comprehensive and all encompassing course of care for each patient.
