Grand Opening of Renovated Clinic
5:30-7pm
Rhode Island Free Clinic will be celebrating the grand opening of its renovated and expanded clinic space. Community leaders, along with staff and volunteers of the Free Clinic, will enjoy tours of the new space and hear from a diversity of speakers with knowledge and experience regarding health care and the needs of the uninsured. October 14 , 2006
"A Moving Experience" Volunteer Day
9am-5pm
Join over 50 volunteers from the community as they help Rhode Island Free Clinic move into its newly renovated clinic space. Over 300 pieces of brand new furniture need to be assembled for the new clinic, and all of the supplies and equipment from the previous clinic and offices need to be packed and moved. Caserta’s Pizza will provide lunch for our volunteers. Please contact Jessica at

BCBSRI Wellness Van
3-4:30pm
The BCBSRI Wellness Van will be at the Free Clinic during our monthly walk-in lottery to hold cholesterol and glucose screenings. Anyone is welcome to come by and visit the Wellness Van that day. You do not have to be a patient or take part in the lottery. Participants will receive free screenings and educational materials. Fasting is not required. Click here for more information.

An evening to celebrate our dedicated volunteers and their many accomplishments with food and fun! Hosted by Mrs. Stephanie Chafee. Food and beverages provided by Guy Abelson Catering. Cover the Uninsured Week is a national project of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. This week raises awareness of the growing numbers of uninsured in our country and urges our leaders to cover the uninsured.

Rhode Island Free Clinic Co-Founder and President Emerita Stephanie Chafee will be featured on The Arlene Violet Show on 920 WHJJ news talk radio. They will be discussing the growing numbers of uninsured, the Free Clinic’s role in the healthcare system, and the importance of Cover the Uninsured Week.

Volunteer Holiday Party
