Become a Patient
The sad fact is, Rhode Island Free Clinic is a small place trying to solve one very big problem. Over 93,000 adults in Rhode Island are reported to be without health insurance—and that’s only the number of people counted and reported. When you consider that we only have the physical space and staff to see 20 to 25 patients per clinic session, you see why we are forced to turn away many who truly need and deserve our help.

So how do you become a Rhode Island Free Clinic patient?

The first Thursday of every month is Walk-In Day when we accept new patients. From 4:00 - 4:30pm, uninsured adults who want to become patients must come to the clinic and pick up a ticket. At 4:30, there is a drawing to determine who gets in. You must be present to be admitted. Be advised that we frequently have to turn away as many as 30 people on any given Walk-In Day, so simply showing up is no guarantee of admittance.
